Repeated removal and installation of crankshaft bolts will eventually destroy the inner threads in a crank snout. Engine builders who run accessory pulleys (dry-sump, etc.) install a permanent stud for ease in servicing. B&B Crank Studs are made from H11 tool steel, are centerless ground after heat-treating, and feature our precision rolled threads and a black oxide finish.
